Canine exposure is a surgical procedure that a Periodontist together with an orthodontist perform, so that an impacted canine will be exposed and will be guided to the correct position in the oral cavity.Impacted canines are a relatively common finding in dental practice. After the third molar, the maxillary canine is the most frequently impacted tooth. The prevalence of impacted maxillary canines is reported to range from 1.5 to 4% (Elefteriadis & Athanasiou, 1995; Ericson & Kurol, 1988; Fox et al, 1995; Stewart et al 2001). The maxillary impacted canine is more frequently located palatally (85%) than labially (15%).
Our aim is to surgically expose the impacted teeth and guide them with the Orthodontic’s help to the right position.
